The University of Wisconsin – River Falls (UWRF) and the UWRF International Relations Club are delighted to host the 34th annual Arrowhead Model United Nations Conference, April 15-18, 2010.
The first step in the process is registration. Please consult the country selection page where you will find a registration form and a list of countries. A third step in the process is to reserve hotels.
A fourth step is to prepare for the conference by
• consulting the rules,
• conducting research,
• submitting your resolutions (directions regarding how this shall be done will be sent to registered participants via email),
• preparing a policy statement for the opening ceremony (These speeches should be approximately three minute long and should define in broad terms your country’s policy positions and goals for the conference. They are judged on several factors including length, substance (such as how well you represent your country’s positions), demeanor, speaking ability, and overall presentation,
• reviewing resolutions after they are posted on the website, and printing copies for your use at the conference,
• reviewing the conference schedule,
• drafting opening remarks and arguments for your resolution, and
• preparing to participate fully on your committee (awards for delegates will be determined by committee chairs and secretaries. They are typically defined by factors such as how well the delegate represented his/her country, how effectively and constructively she/he participated in both the formal debates and informal caucus discussions held by the committee, and whether he/she submitted a resolution, even if it was not debated).
A fifth step is to obtain directions to the conference. For those using global positioning, the University’s official address is 410 South Third Street, River Falls, WI 54022. A second option is to use the hotel’s website, which has easy-to-follow directions that will bring you right to the University. A third option is to consult the maps provided on-line by the UW-River Falls at http://www.uwrf.edu/map/. That site includes multiple maps of the region, city, and campus. You can use the inter-active campus map to locate the University Center, where most events will occur. It is a short walk of perhaps ten minutes from the hotel.
Please contact the conference organizers if you have questions at AMUNC@uwrf.edu. We look forward to seeing you at the Conference.
