Arrowhead Model United Nations

April 13-16, 2017

The Arrowhead Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC) occurs each spring and brings together students from colleges and universities across the Upper Midwest of the United States.

Committees and Agendas


General Assembly

Members of the AMUNC General Assembly First, Second, and Third Committees submit resolutions in advance of the conference. The Secretariat then sets the agenda from among the resolutions submitted by the member-state delegations.  The members of the AMUNC General Assembly Fourth Committee will write their resolutions at the conference, focusing on issues published in advance of the conference.

The resolutions shall be considered in the sequence in which they shall have been numbered by the Secretariat. "Considered" for this purpose means debated and acted upon (adopted, adopted with amendments, or rejected).

Political and Security Committee (First Committee)

The First Committee considers all political and security matters in the furtherance of international peace and security, and this includes the promotion of cooperative agreements and measures aimed at lowering levels of different types of armaments worldwide.

Economic and Finance Committee (Second Committee)

The Second Committee considers all economic and financial matters  such as macroeconomic policy questions , globalization and interdependence, poverty eradication, financing for development, sustainable development, and information and communication technologies for development.

Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee (Third Committee)

The Third Committee considers all social, cultural and humanitarian matters such as  the advancement of women, the protection of children, the treatment of refugees, indigenous issues, the elimination of racism and racial discrimination, and the right to self- determination worldwide.

Environmental Committee (Fourth Committee)

The Fourth Committee considers environmental issues, focusing on specific issues recommended by the Secretariat in advance of the Conference.  The issues for AMUNC 2017 are:

Planned Obsolescence

Desertification


SECURITY COUNCIL

Members of the AMUNC Security Council submit resolutions in advance of the conference. The Secretariat then sets the agenda from among the resolutions submitted by the member-state delegations.
